The protection, concretely

Every buyer carries an internal reference. Another broker sees the reference and the preferences, and nothing else. Contact details are disclosed only to whoever is entitled to them: you, over your own client, and the counterparty only once the auction has been won.

What another broker seesThe reference, the location, the budget, the type and the use. Never the name, the email address or the telephone number.
